Apply for a completion certificate

Apply For a Completion Certificate

To get a Completion Certificate for your project, you must complete the final stages of the building control process.

You should book a Final Inspection within 5 days of the work being completed. A Notice of Completion must also be signed by all duty holders.
Completing these steps helps us issue your Completion Certificate without delay.

A Completion Certificate can be issued once:

  • we have carried out a satisfactory final inspection
  • we have received a Notice of Completion signed by all duty holders
  • your building control fees have been paid in full
  • any required competent person scheme certificates have been submitted

Your Completion Certificate is an important document and should be kept safe.  It may be needed by future buyers, solicitors, banks and building societies as evidence that the work complied with Building Regulations.

Option 1: Full Assessment and Further Inspections

  • We can assess the application and carry out additional inspections.
  • These inspections may require:
    • Opening up works.
    • Rectifying issues before a certificate can be issued.
  • Charge: £186
  • Request this service via our Online Contact Form

Option 2: Inspection Summary and Confirmation Letter

  • We can provide:
    • A copy of the inspection summary.
    • A letter confirming the last inspection date and our position on enforcement.

We would advise that you check with your conveyancing solicitor before requesting either service.
