Why a completion certificate matters

What is a completion certificate and why do I need one?

A completion certificate confirms that your building work has been inspected by Building Control and meets Building Regulations. It shows that the work is safe and legally compliant.

You should keep your completion certificate in a safe place. You may need it if you sell your home or apply for a new mortgage.

If you do not have a completion certificate, it can delay a sale. If this applies to you, speak to your solicitor as early as possible.
