Guidance – Where a completion certificate was not issued

Applications Deposited Before 9 January 2013

  • Confirm the status of your application with your local authority
  • If a completion certificate was not issued when the work was completed, Southern Building Control Partnership cannot issue one retrospectively.
  • We can provide a letter that:
    • Explains the regulations in place at the time of your application.
    • States our position on enforcement action.
  • Important: If you are selling your property, discuss this option with your conveyancing solicitor before requesting the letter.

Applications Deposited After 9 January 2013

If a completion certificate has not been issued, you have two options:

Option 1: Full Assessment and Further Inspections

  • We can assess the application and carry out additional inspections.
  • These inspections may require:
    • Opening up works.
    • Rectifying issues before a certificate can be issued.
  • Charge: £186
  • Request this service via our Online Contact Form

Option 2: Inspection Summary and Confirmation Letter

  • We can provide:
    • A copy of the inspection summary.
    • A letter confirming the last inspection date and our position on enforcement.
  • Charge: £37
  • Request this service via our Online Contact Form

We would advise that you check with your conveyancing solicitor before requesting either service.
